Windows 7
it's everything they said it was going to be...

PROS:
Crazy fast OS compared to vista and XP,
As stable as XP.
Not a resource whore like Vista, so my games run faster and much better.
Has an XP mode for XP specific programs,
Designed so you can upgrade right from XP or Vista (downloads needed before upgrade from XP, they're free...)
No compatibility issues, except my Anti-virus which will not run on Windows 7, but that was about to expire anyways...
BIG PRO: If you decide to purchase, get "Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade" You can either upgrade to it with these DVD’s or get a complete clean install off them...
Yes that right! Clean install from upgrade disc! Will save a couple hundred, I got mine for $139.99 on sale at Best Buy

CONS:
Interface is different takes awhile to get used too, I’m still not used to it...
Quick launch bar is huge...

Windows 7 is a pretty solid OS. I've had it for a couple months now on my laptop (I can get it through my school for free ), and haven't had any problems at all really.

Hell yeah, this is good news... will definiately have to upgrade... assuming, just like everything else, that my computer meet minimum requirements.

Damn LoC, I'm jealous. Our school only gives us MS Office for free. (Even though I don't know if anyone asked about Windows 7, but I doubt they'd give for free).

I do know that any currently enrolled college student can get Windows 7 for like $30 from now until 1/3/2010

So about 6 weeks ago, I installed Windows 7 (64-bit Professional) and at first, it ran so smooth (even though finding drivers that worked with Windows 7 was a bitch!) and definitely 'felt lighter'.

Then, I installed MS Office 2007, Firefox, and iTunes and I'm not sure if it's related to that or what... but now Windows 7 is running like shit. The fan is on high ALL THE TIME and even when I only have 1 window open (either Firefox or MS Word), there are times when I get computer lag (like, I start typing and 5-10 seconds later it appears).

Needless to say I'm disappointed that I made the move to Windows 7. I assume it's a driver/BIOS issue, but nonetheless, it's a pain in the ass. I would only recommend going Windows 7 if you are buying a new PC that comes with the OS and drivers already built in... or simply waiting for Windows 7 to become more standardized and accepted.

Lastly, if MS comes out with another version of Windows in the next 3 years, I will probably definitely make the move to Linux. The life cycle of an OS should be alot more than 3 years. Then again, with their relatively short life cycle on the original Xbox, I shouldn't be surprised

Fire fox causes hang-ups and problems with windows 7, not sure why...

I switch to Google Chrome which is so much better than Firefox imho!
