Roll Call!

Posted by Havak at 1:04AM, 9/28/2008

With the eliteenforcers.com domain having finally propagated amongst the internets, the new website is finally open for business. If you come across any bugs, typos, or otherwise please post them in the forums. I'll try to stay on top of getting things fixed if need be. Also if you have improvement suggestions please post them in the forums as well. Unlike previously, additions to the website are not as much of a Labor of Hercules to implement.

One thing the old site wasn't good at doing was keeping track of us. So in order to make sure that everyone who should have an Elite Enforcer stamped under their name please post in the forums. I have made a sticked post titled Elite Enforcers Roster Update where you can post a reply if your account does not currently show up as Elite Enforcer.

Migration, Accounts, and Web Host Change

Posted by Havak at 6:57PM, 9/07/2008

The database from the old site as of September the 7th has been migrated to the new site. If you make any new posts or send any private messages on the old site it will not be transferred over. So what was copied over to the new site? User accounts, forum categories, forums, topics, and posts were all part of the database migration. Because of differences in how I store the same information in the database it wasn't a 1-1 copy. You might find that some of your user account settings didn't get copied or that a topic that had previously been stickied is no longer.

User accounts: Most of your user account information has been transferred. PHPNuke does store alot more data than the new site does (most of it useless now), but everything relevant has been saved.

Login: To login simply enter your username and password, in the upper-left hand corner, exactly as you would on the old site. If you cannot remember your password try using the Forgot your password? link underneath the login fields. Hopefully if I did my work correctly , this feature will work and generate a new password for you to login with. If it isn't working, or the email you previously registered your account under is not valid anymore, email me with your username and I will manually reset your password.

Lastly, and thankfully, we have a new shared web hosting provider! The site is no longer located in Australia or wherever the hell they had it setup before, and runs much better than the slug of a machine the old host had us on. Some things may not work instantly though as I get everything setup correctly. But rest assured it will get done.

Welcome to the redesigned EliteEnforcers.com!

Posted by Havak at 10:07PM, 8/29/2008

Welcome all to the completely, totally, excruciatingly redesigned Elite Enforcers website. This new site has been created from scratch. We are no longer using any open source CMS systems that have their own SQL injection related baggage (I'm looking at you, PHPNuke). So when something goes wrong with the website you'll only have me to blame, hah...but no, the new site is many times more secure, stable, and interactive than anything that could be developed with a system like PHPNuke.

So what's new about the site? Well everything of course! From the extensive administration functions, to the custom designed bulletin boards, and the cool new gallery module which you can submit contributions to. What you see here isn't the end, but merely the basis for more functionality that can be added. Some modules in mind is a section for streamed video (YouTube and others) and a module for game reviews, comments, and screenshots. So the website as it is just represents the tip of the iceburg.

As everything is hand coded on the site, you may come across bugs or inconsistencies in the website. Please do give a shout out on the forums (provided they are working) and let me know what you've encountered. Since this is my own code any bug found should be instantly recognizable to me, and I'll get to fixing it post haste.

So thats it...for now. Let me know what you think by adding comments to this new post or by starting a discussion in any of the forums.
